Johnson Family Motors wasn't started in a boardroom; it was started with a passion for vehicles and a desire to treat people differently.
When we opened our doors in 2012, we noticed a gap in the industry. You usually had to choose between a car dealership that just wanted a sale, or a mechanic who didn't understand the cars they were fixing. We decided to be both.
Founded by Zac Johnson, our mission has always been simple: provide the specialized expertise of a high-end independent Subaru service center with the personal care of a family neighbor.
Why "Family" Matters to You We included "Family" in our name for a reason. It’s a promise of accountability.
Zac Johnson – General Manager
As the General Manager and Managing Member, Zac oversees the daily operations of both the sales and service departments. He believes that a great business is built on long-term relationships, not one-time transactions.
We don't just want to sell you a car or fix your engine today; we want to be the shop you trust for the next ten years. That’s why we invest in the best diagnostic tools, the best training, and the best people.
Come see the difference a family business makes.

Welcome to Johnson Family Motors. We are more than just a dealership or a repair shop; we are a team of automotive enthusiasts dedicated to keeping our community on the road. From reliable daily drivers to specialized Subaru service, our world revolves around the cars that keep you moving.
Johnson Family Motors was founded in 2012 with a simple but clear mission: to provide high-quality used vehicles in Utah to our neighbors. As a family-owned business, we aimed to break the mold of the typical used car experience. We focused on transparency, fair pricing, and sourcing vehicles that we would feel safe putting our own family members in. Over those first few years, we didn't just sell cars; we built relationships.
As we grew, we developed a deep appreciation and technical understanding of one brand in particular: Subaru. Living in Utah, we know these vehicles are essential for conquering our canyons, snow, and daily commutes.
We realized that Subaru owners needed an alternative to the dealership—a place that offered expert-level automotive repair, testing, and evaluation but with the personal touch and value of a local independent shop.
In 2018, we officially opened our service department to the public, establishing ourselves as Independent Subaru Specialists. What started as maintaining our own inventory evolved into a full-service destination for Subaru owners across the Wasatch Front. Whether it’s head gaskets, timing belts, or routine maintenance, our team has the specialized training and tooling to handle it all.
Our love for machinery doesn't end when the shop lights go out. If you follow us online, you might see our adventures with Tin Grille Hunters.
This is our personal tribute to the classic Tin Grille Dodge Trucks. We have a deep respect for the history and engineering of these vintage workhorses, and we love hunting for them and bringing them back to life in our spare time.
Please note: While we love showing off these classic trucks, we are not a restoration shop. Tin Grille Hunters is strictly our personal hobby and passion. We leave the restoration work to the weekends so we can focus 100% on keeping your Subarus running safely and efficiently during the week.
Whether you are here to buy your next vehicle or schedule a specialized Subaru service, we are glad you’re here.
Johnson Family Motors Est. 2012 | Independent Subaru Service Specialists since 2018

At Johnson Family Motors, we believe in mastering our craft to provide the highest quality automotive repair for your daily driver. Our focus is strictly on mechanical repair and maintenance to ensure your vehicle runs smoothly.
While we enjoy vintage trucks in our free time, our business hours are dedicated 100% to enhancing modern vehicle reliability and safety.

Your Subaru is a unique machine. From the flat "Boxer" engine to the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and CVT transmission, it requires specific fluids, parts, and knowledge to run correctly.
Many general repair shops try to fix everything, but "Jacks of all trades" can often miss the nuances of your specific vehicle. On the other hand, the dealership offers expertise, but often at a premium price and with a corporate feel.
At Johnson Family Motors, we offer the best of both worlds:
